How To: Get Alerts for When Your Local Apple Store Has an iPhone 6 in Stock

Get Alerts for When Your Local Apple Store Has an iPhone 6 in Stock

If you're trying to get a new iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, we know you've been struggling to find one, and we're here to help. With Apple's preorder numbers topping 4 million in the first 24 hours, it was nearly impossible to get one during the first wave.

After the first sales weekend, Apple had moved over 10 million new iPhones, a record that topped the 9 million sold for the iPhone 5S and 5C, and left many Apple Stores with a depleted inventory.

So, if you missed the preorder window and don't feel like ordering one online now and waiting, you can use a couple of handy tracking tools to find out when iPhone 6 models are in stock at stores in your area.

Check for iPhone 6 at Apple, Target, Walmart, & More

iDeviceChecker, from developer Simon Schabel, shows you a real-time map of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus availability at stores like Apple, Best Buy, RadioShack, Target, Walmart, as well as carrier stores.

Enter the iPhone model you're looking for at the top of the page, as well as the color, storage, and carrier. If there are no stores with stock for your search, you can enter your zip code and email address to get a notification when a store within a 30 mile radius from your location has fresh inventory.

Get Notified for Apple Store Availability

In case you only want to search Apple stores for iPhone 6 models, iPhone 6 Tracker is the site for you, where you can receive updates automatically when one pops up locally.

By entering information such as the model iPhone you want to track, your carrier, and your zip code, you can get notified via email or phone as soon as one is available for pickup at any of the three closest Apple Stores to your location.

iPhone 6 Tracker periodically scrapes the Apple Store site looking for available iPhone models so you don't have to. Just enter in your info, sit back, and wait to run to an Apple Store.

I would suggest you use the iDeviceChecker.com website as it tracks way more stores!

iDeviceChecker is inaccurate. It shows that there are Best Buys all over with 6 Pluses, but unfortunately, they don't have them. I was excited to find out that there were a few best buys about 2 hours away from me that iDeviceChecker showed with inventory. I called them and they said they were sold out and had been for almost a week.

Dear Maxx,

sorry to read that. As I see you wrote this comment approx. one week ago. Around this time the checker algorithm wasn't running 24/7, instead the database was updated 3-4 times a day. I worked really hard to enhance the checking algorithms. Now they run 24/7 always checking 4 major store brands at a time, then the other 4, the again the first 4 and so on. Currently the availability information is not older than two hours.

Of course iDeviceChecker.com can only be as accurate as the stores publish their inventory and also they might lack the correct information.

Just a short story what happened to me last autumn when the iPhone 5S was new to the market: I was in the US doing a roadtrip with my girlfriend through California. I wanted to buy an iPhone 5S for my Dad to bring it home for him. When we were in San Francisco I checked the BestBuy website and found a store which had a iPhone 5S with my desired config in stock. So I went there and talked to an employee if I might buy an iPhone 5S in Space Gray with 16GB storage from Verizon. He told me that they were not available.. I was astonished and went out of the store, talked to my girlfriend and we rechecked the website bestbuy.com. There the iPhone 5S was still mentioned as available in exactly my desired config. So I went back in and lined up in the line at the mobile desk. When I was served I ask this different employee if they have the iPhone 5S in my config as it was mentioned on the website: "Of course" he said and brought me the desired phone. And 5 meters away was the other employer talking to some other customer who was telling me moments ago that no Verizon phones were left.

As you see, not every employee has the full overview if they still have iDevice in stock or not. But of course I think calling them before driving over is in general a good idea.

Hopefully you finally got your desired iPhone :)

Best greetings
