The iPhone 7 Comes in an All-New 'Jet Black' Glossy Finish with a Matte 'Black' Counterpart

Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and now, Black and Jet Black—these are the available colors for Apple's all-new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Or, if you prefer regular colors instead of marketing terms, then your options are gray, yellow, pink, black, and shiny black, respectively.

The new kids on the block are the Black and Jet Black variants. The former is a stealthy, matte black version of the look we've grown accustomed to, which replaces the Space Gray color from years past. But the latter is more than just a color—it's an entirely new finish. Not only is Jet Black a new color, but the phone itself has a mirror finish when you choose the shiny new option.

Pictures and video won't do the Jet Black color scheme any justice, as it appears almost plastic in these. However, the glossy black finish extends beyond the aluminum chassis to include buttons and even antenna lines, so it's an all-dark look.

One downside, however, is that Jet Black will only be available for 128 and 256 gigabyte versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus. So if you want this shiny new look, you'll have to splurge on some extra storage.

The front of the Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold models is white, while Black and Space Black get matching black glass. Regardless of your color choice, the Apple logo inlay is still made out of polished stainless steel, which is a factor to consider, seeing as how it blends in with the Jet Black model's overall finish in most lighting.

The stealthy look of the Black model will surely turn heads. But Jet Black is certainly the most distinctive of this year's color options, so it's bound to be a popular choice. The glossy finish might be a fingerprint magnet, but the seamless look is quite attractive.
